Chyron Unveils PRIME VSAR 2.3
Chyron’s Virtual Set and Augmented Reality Suite Offers Enhanced Visuals, Improved User Experience, and Directly Connects Unreal® to Broadcast Workflows
MELVILLE, N.Y. – March 17, 2026 – Chyron has officially released PRIME VSAR 2.3, the latest edition of its solution for creating photorealistic graphics and virtual environments for broadcasters. The release delivers more consistent and realistic visuals, seamless integration with any Unreal®-based workflow, and user experience enhancements designed to leverage live productions.
“VSAR 2.3 introduces more immersive visuals and user experience optimizations that help teams deliver detailed scenes faster, which is critical in live production”, stated Sebastian Berdichevsky, Chyron’s workflow and orchestration portfolio director. “Everything we build comes directly from close collaboration with our customers, and we’re proud to say VSAR 2.3 is the outcome of their valuable insights.”
With VSAR 2.3, broadcasters can create more complex and realistic 3D virtual scenes that engage audiences across live productions. The solution is compatible with Unreal Engine 5.6 and benefits from improved performance and stability. Unreal Lens Compatibility further increases realism in augmented reality and virtual productions. The application of lens distortion data directly to virtual cameras refines alignment between virtual elements and the live camera feed.
Ease of use is another key focus of the release. With Live Assist Panels 2.9, Chyron’s HTML5 application for designing web-based control panels, VSAR introduces a new set of simplified drag-and-drop widgets to execute common controls such as Actor Selector, Level Sequence Selector, and Blueprint Selector, all from a single interface. VSAR 2.3 also reinforces its integration within the Chyron ecosystem. If VSAR is open, Live Assist Panels can directly launch VSAR projects to streamline production workflows and allow operators to manage Unreal project elements such as cameras, lights, and object positions.
Seamless integration with any Unreal-based workflow is a game-changer for anyone utilizing virtual sets in a broadcast workflow. VSAR 2.3 can now be deployed as a plugin within any standard Unreal Engine instance. This simplifies adoption for Unreal users and enables the inclusion of VSAR in existing Unreal-based virtual production workflows. VSAR’s plugin acts as a bridge between Unreal production workflows and on-air delivery. It connects Unreal Engine environments with CAMIO and NRCS systems within Chyron’s broadcast production workflow.
Finally, VSAR 2.3 includes a set of internal improvements designed to increase reliability. Updates in this release include optimized internal compositing quality that preserves original video input pixels and translucent keyer details, new project templates with a library of Studios and Levels to accelerate the go-to-air process, and TCP Messaging support to integrate VSAR into automation workflows, allowing it to control or to be controlled by external devices, either from Chyron or a third party.
