International Luge Federation Partners with Chyron to Transform Live Event Broadcasts
MELVILLE, N.Y. — July 16, 2024 — Chyron today announced that the International Luge Federation (FIL), the international federation for all luge sports, has deployed the Chyron PRIME live production platform and leveraged the company’s Creative Services to transform its broadcast coverage of luge World Cup and World Championship races. While the Chyron team provided support in undertaking a rapid graphics refresh, as well as on-site graphics playout, PRIME has supplied sophisticated data integration capabilities and the modern graphics tools essential to presenting live coverage with more engaging graphics, data-driven elements, and dynamic storytelling tools.
“While FIL broadcasts have always been popular, viewers have really noticed the upgrade since we collaborated with Chyron to give our coverage a fresh, modern look and feel,” said FIL Secretary General Dwight Bell. “The graphics package delivered by Chyron’s Creative Services team boosts the overall visual quality of our broadcasts, showcases the personalities and stories of the racers, and taps into the wealth of stats available — but never shown before — to create more engaging and visually satisfying coverage.”
The Chyron Creative Services team built the package from scratch, delivering an insert package, lower thirds, full screens, standings pages, opening animation package headers, and other elements to add color and personality. Working with FIL’s data provider, Chyron integrated data into PRIME to create attention-grabbing on-screen graphics featuring stats such as max speed, G force, and roll angle as racers rocket down the track.
The cumulative effect of the federation’s work with Chyron has been to raise the profile of FIL broadcasts worldwide and grow the FIL Luge YouTube channel significantly, spurring greater interest in luge and making FIL a model for other federations that have retained or are reclaiming their broadcast rights.
“Our partnership with Chyron has been amazing,” added FIL Sports Director Matthias Böhmer. “Chyron has been incredibly supportive throughout this project, helping us enhance broadcasts with graphics that tell richer stories about luge events and, in turn, connect viewers to athletes and the sport.”
