Boost Your Team’s Recall And Performance With Video Analysis

Studies show that telestration significantly improves players’ ability to recall key information, ultimately enhancing performance on the field.

In a groundbreaking study by the Sports Innovation Journal and Training Ground Guru, research demonstrated how video analysis with telestration can dramatically improve retention rates. The trial involved 14 players from the English Championship, covering a variety of outfield positions. Over the course of 15 days, two groups were tested:

• The Experimental Group: 7 players who experienced telestration.
• The Control Group: 7 players who did not use telestration.

Each player watched clips — some telestrated, some not — and then completed a questionnaire 24 hours later. The questions focused on critical aspects like possession, created chances, and set pieces.

Results:

• Recall Rate: The telestration group achieved an impressive 84% recall rate, while the control group reached only 52.57%.
• Set Pieces: For set pieces, the telestration group had an 86.86% recall rate, compared to just 48% in the non-telestrated group.

The study’s authors concluded that telestration is a powerful tool in performance analysis and coaching.
