Chyron Announces Designer of the Year Competition for Fall 2025
Prestigious Competition for the Best in Live Graphics Design
MELVILLE, N.Y. — August 7, 2025 — Chyron today announced its Designer of the Year Competition for Fall of 2025, to be awarded live during the IBC 2025 Show in Amsterdam. The competition is open to anyone with design expertise, live broadcast knowledge and a working knowledge of design, animation and data integration with Chyron PRIME Designer, Chyron’s common design interface for live graphics, video walls, branding and touchscreen implementations. The award is given twice annually, once in conjunction with NAB and once again in conjunction with IBC.
“While we are proud of the fact that Chyron PRIME is the graphics system of choice for many live productions of all sizes across the globe,” states Carol Bettencourt, Chyron vice president of marketing, “we know that this is only possible because of the large community of expert PRIME designers and operators. It’s fun to see what they share with us every year as we evaluate the Designer of the Year applicants.”
Previous winners include Zack Millican (NAB 2023) an in-demand sports graphics freelancer, Perry Littman (IBC 2023) graphics operator at MOOV, Ltd., Kyle Taragowski (NAB 2024) for his work with Academy of Lower Thirds for CPAC-Canada, Tom Gray (IBC 2024) graphics implementation specialist at MOOV, Ltd. and David Burke (NAB 2025), a seasoned graphics expert whose work has been utilised by 21 different NHL, NBA and MLB teams, as well as college sports, fight sports, studio shows, in-venue shows, and news and entertainment broadcasts.
Of his winning project, Burke states, “This project takes full advantage of PRIME’s advanced data integration capabilities. The SportRadar API populates the rosters and standings via custom apps. When the operator selects a tricode, PRIME updates a drop-down menu with that team’s roster so they can quickly choose a player, or they can use hotkeys to pop him in by number. In-game stats are provided through SRDI and HITS, season stats and leaderboards through Playbook.”
To enter, designers may submit four or more Chyron PRIME broadcast quality scenes, that include animations, data integration, base scenes, style sheets and playout control panels..They should also submit a showreel. David Burke’s winning show reel may be seen here. The deadline for entries is September 5, 2025. Designers may submit work created specifically for this competition, or may submit work created for a customer or employer, with their permission.
