Chyron Announces Prestigious 2026 Designer of the Year Competition

Honoring Those Who Represent the Best in Chyron Design Expertise During Its 60th Anniversary Year

MELVILLE, N.Y. – March 5, 2026  Chyron today announced its 2026 Designer of the Year Competition, to be awarded during a live stream from the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas. This year’s competition is especially meaningful as Chyron celebrates its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of innovation in broadcast graphics.

Most recently, Diego Soto was selected as the Chyron Designer of the Year Award winner at IBC 2025, chosen from over 30 entrants on the basis of design excellence, animation, and data integration.

“Working with Chyron PRIME gives me the tools and creative freedom to bring my ideas to life. It was easy to learn, with instinctive tools. It has been a great experience to utilize my experience as a designer with this modern graphics system,” stated Soto, a real-time graphics specialist for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and owner of DASM Animation “I know it is being used more and more by broadcasters everywhere. I am really honored to be selected for this award.”

To be considered for this year’s award, entrants should prepare four or more broadcast-quality scenes created with Chyron PRIME. The scenes must include animations, and the use of data integration, base scenes, style sheets, HTML input, and playout control panels is encouraged. Designers may submit work created specifically for this competition or for a customer or employer, with the customer’s or employer’s permission. Both independent designers or designers working for broadcasts of any size may be considered.

“We take a lot of care in making products with cutting-edge feature sets for designers and operators, but our products are only as good as the knowledge and skills of those who use them,” emphasizes Carol Bettencourt, vice president of marketing at Chyron. “We are very committed to growing and nurturing a global community of Chyron users so that our customers have the talent pool that they need. This award is an important part of nurturing and applauding those who bring out the best in our products.”

In addition to Diego Soto past honorees include Zack Millican for his work as a U.S.-based sports graphics freelancer; Perry Littman for his work with MOOV, Ltd. for broadcasts of the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League; The Academy of Lower Thirds for their work using the Chyron PRIME platform to create graphics for CPAC-Canada; Tom Gray of MOOV, Ltd.; and David Burke, a seasoned operator and designer in U.S. news, sports, and entertainment, recognized for his project integrating the SportRadar API with Chyron PRIME graphics.

The deadline for applications is April 1, 2026.
